I have to make some drawings for a FIAR 134 Profressor kellers course on an essay for venus de milos. I know there are four types. what are those types?

Hi Elizabeth!

The 4 types of drawrings you are expected to do are Line, Color, Pattern, and Texture. There is sometimes a 5th type called Form, but if she said to do 4, those it’s going to be those 4 that I listed. I plan to post a separate entry on CAE Smart Space just on this topic, with illustrations of each type and advice on how to get started. So keep an eye out for that post here on Smart Space.

Hello Courtney,

Do you think you could show me some example of what line, color, pattern, texture and form are suppose to be. I understand line and color but I do not undersatnd pattern, texture and form. I am doing Aprhodite de Milos if that helps at.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Elizabeth,

I have posted examples with an article instructing how to do them, but it’s kind of a mess right now. I’m going to re-post them, but you should still be able to at least see the pictures for now.

When doing your own, make sure you are drawing from the actual piece of art, not a drawing or copy of the piece of art. There are sometimes slight changes in the copy. For example, in the drawing of the Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos), the statue does not have as much arm left to it as the drawing does.

I am in Dorothy Keller’s, History of Art class 134. I was wondering if you had any time available this week to help me with my art paper. It only has to be 3 pages and I’m on 4 pages without a clear thought. I was hoping you could help me out.

Thank you,

Hello Courtney,

You helped review my art history paper for Professor Keller, but she didn’t like the organization of the paper, said my conclusion was terrible, and the Aphrodite de <U)(duvet?) Milos was spelled wrong?

Could we make another appointment to go over her comments and possible improve the paper?
