SOCIAL WORK

Megan Czaja

Meg is an undergrad Content Tutor for Social Work, and loves working with her peers in the major.  Believe it or not, Megan just got hired as a Case Manager for EastConn and she hasn’t even graduated yet.  Who does that?  She knows her stuff, but she’s easy to be around, which is why you’ll love her as a tutor.  Trust us!

From Meg:

Quote of the week:

Each week I will post an inspirational quote, that has helped me get through work, internship and classes. My goal is to have students respond as to how the quote has touched them.

The good social worker doesn’t go on mechanically helping people out of a ditch. Pretty soon, she/he begins to find out what ought to be done to get rid of the ditch.
—Mary Richmond

This quote makes me remember that Social Work is not about fixing individual problems on a regular basis; instead it involves addressing what caused the problem in the first place. For example, my clients are mandated to attend my program in order to continue collecting welfare. My goal is to help them be successful in the program so that they retain employment and no longer rely on their benefits to survive.

Resources Tab:

Every week I will post a new resource that may be of interest to Social Work Students. My goal is to have students post resources of their own.

http://www.ctclearinghouse.org/

This is a great resource library to become a member of!! For $10 a year you have unlimited access to pamphlets and posters for your agency along with the ability to check out books and curriculum. I use it both at work and in my internships
